Terms of membership
The plain-language terms of being a Hikri Companion member. Each plan also has its own written terms, which we share before you pay — where they differ, the plan's terms apply.
Membership
- Membership starts when you pay the one-time registration fee of Ksh 200 and we confirm your registration.
- We give you a membership number — keep it safe. You will need it for claims and enquiries.
- Cover under a plan starts when your contributions start, subject to that plan's waiting periods.
Contributions
- You pay contributions daily, weekly or monthly depending on your plan, by M-Pesa to our official till.
- We never ask you to send money to a personal phone number. Pay only through our official till after speaking to our office.
- Keep your M-Pesa confirmation messages — they are your proof of payment.
Waiting periods and exclusions
- Every plan has waiting periods — time between joining and when a benefit activates.
- Every plan has exclusions — things it does not cover. We share both in writing before you pay.
If you stop paying
- If contributions stop, cover may lapse under the plan's rules. Contact us before you miss a payment — we can often help.
- For plans with a savings element, the written plan rules explain what happens to your savings.
Refunds
- The registration fee covers the cost of enrolling you and is generally not refundable once your membership is confirmed.
- Contribution refunds follow the written rules of your plan.
